Just goes to show, whatever your particular era of car/fascination, classic car ownership can mean great journeys, great destinations and all sorts of surprises and friendships along he way - here's a snapshot of Mark's year:
A little info about my year with my Mk1 Astra GTE since Manchester 2016: At the 2016 Footman James Classic Car Show Manchester I had a fantastic time. I felt so welcome and enjoyed my road trip to and from Scotland and I am looking forward to that again this weekend
Following the Manchester show I entered Pride of Ownership at the NEC and surprisingly came 3rd in the public vote! The start of 2017 saw me modify the Astra GTE for the Monte Carlo Rally UK start leg taking part in a heritage run through Scotland, this was followed with a magazine photo shoot for Modern Classics Magazine in February which went in to print in the July 2017 issue, April saw me do another road trip to England this time to put the car on display at the Practical Classics NEC Show, May saw the GTE being hired by movie producers and used for a scene in a yet to be released UK film called "Beats" I was also used as an extra in this film
The summer saw the GTE winning an online competition along with 5 other cars to be displayed on the Angelwax Pride of Ownership stand at the Ignition Festival Glasgow, at this show I also got to co drive and drive a GpB RS200 Rally Car with former World Rally Champion Stig Blomqvist
July I fufilled a life long dream to own an Escort RS Cosworth and bought myself a lovely silver one that will be at Manchester 2018 if you will have me again (yes we will Mark!).
In between all this the GTE has attended many local shows & events being enjoyed most weekends, I have a fantastic social life and great circle of friends because of my classic car hobby.
And here we are again ready to do another road trip back to England for the Manchester Show
See you soon
