Porsche Centres Bolton have each been busy over the past six months restoring a 986 Porsche Boxster S to take part in the Porsche Classic Restoracing Competition.
Launched in 1996, the Boxster was the first new model to be launched by Porsche for some time and proved to be an instant success. It introduced new customers to the Porsche brand and offered sports car appeal, a sought-after driving experience and of course the iconic Porsche badge. The Boxster also featured a mid-mounted flat-six engine, which delivered the typical high-performance associated with Porsche.
The Porsche Classic Restoracing Competition 2018 celebrates the 986 Boxster and sees each car judged upon the quality and execution of their restoration, taking into account the condition of the bodywork, paintwork and mechanical elements of the car. Not only that, but each Boxster also takes part in a series of races at iconic British race tracks including Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
Our Porsche-trained Technicians have worked tirelessly restoring these cars to a superb standard, to not only look the part, but to withstand the demands of three rounds of racing.
As part of this restoration and in preparation for the track, each Centre was required to select a livery from past Porsche race cars. Porsche Centre Bolton opted for the bright blue Wally’s Jeans ‘Lucky Spark’ livery, seen on the 1974 Porsche 911 RSR. The first race meeting on 5 May, consisting of two races at Brands Hatch, saw Porsche Centre Bolton achieve a win in race two. This success was echoed at Silverstone on 2 June, with Porsche Centre Bolton performing equally well and securing another win. All cars from our Porsche Centres performed well and the excellent restoration achievements of our teams were evident at both meetings.
The highly anticipated final race meeting will see the Centre teams return to Brands Hatch to race on the Indy Circuit on 2 September.

Additionally, the Restoracing cars will be displayed at the centre after the final race, and will be featured at the Footman James Classic Car show in Manchester on 15th and 16th September.
